So Imus gets fired but there was no problem with the movie "white chicks?" It seems that it is ok to offend and name call white people, but God forbid if it happens the other way around. Don't give me excuses about the past, I wasn't alive back then.

Danworth - what, do you only have the attention span of a gnat?

BRAB - so i can cast 2 white dudes to dress up as black chicks and do stereotypical "black chick" stuff for half a movie? would it still be "just a movie" in your mind?

Venom! - get off your high horse, what makes you so great that you can justify calling me names? It's not my fault you are extra sensitive.

Kate - idiot

T Time - Imus isn't a journalist who needs to be objective, he is TALK SHOW HOST who's sole purpose is to inteview people and to say WHATEVER he wants to! He is not held to any journalistc moral standard.

I agree fully with you, and I am Hispanic. Blacks in the United States are doing the same thing Indians in my country are. They used to be mistreated but when they became free, they abused that freedom and are now trying to gain a right over all other ethnic groups. I don't see anyone making national scandals about Chapelle, but when Imus says the same types of jokes then the whole nation stands up and turns their head to see who has dared to talk about black people. It is really unfair, and I think that if they are going to do it with Imus, then they should do it with all the black comedians and rappers (who besides being racist, incite the use of sex, drugs, alcohol, violence, etc.)

you are probably gonna get get a lot of heat for asking this question, as it has been quite the topic of the past few days. It would seem to me that on one hand sharpton, jackson, goldberg, winfrey, et. al. would like nothing more than for all of us to live in one world, yet on the other hand it would seem that certain expressions, often expressions that orginated in the black community, should be allowed to be used by some and forbidden to others, in effect creating (enforcing?) a double standard and making a mockery of the first amendment. My observation on this (especially considering the "pass the buck" attitude of the head of BET (purveyors of some of the most negative imagery of the twentieth century)) is that until these self appointed "leaders of the black community" become less ethnocentric and hypocritical the majority of adults will refuse to take them seriously.

THANK YOU!
I love these questions!
This is so true. It's pissing me off. Imus is paid to make fun of EVERYONE. He makes fun of whites, and blacks, and everyone in between. Yet, when he says something about blacks...god forbid.

And there's black only scholarships, but if theres scholarships for white kids, it's racist.
There is something wrong with this picture. STOP BEING SO HYPER-SENSITIVE PEOPLE.

I'm tired of this subject.

Imus was both wrong and wronged... no doubt about it... let's move on.

Edit: Mike, it's a nonissue, man. It's all flash and no pop.

So Al got a pyrrhic victory... big deal, that's his job.
If I got an effing parade every time i did my job, I'd quit working.

Those in the news media have a responssiblity to keep their prejudices at home. They're supposed to be objective.
Movies and media are vastly different.

heres a cookie.................. now stop whining. As there are tons of movies that depict black people in an unfavourable light! and guess what????? they, by far, outnumber movies that depict white badly (er... like its not true about valley girls)

now, get over your a.ss already.
