I am very mathmatically challanged. Please help! I just switched my dogs food, and they recommend I feed 3% of my dogs weight. I bought a scale, and am all ready to measure, but I don't think the amount I can up with is right. Ounces or grams, it's doesn't matter. Thanks so much!

Every get really sick and not be able to eat for 3-4 days while you're busy barfing etc? And at the end of that you still find you only lost 3-5 lbs! Doesn't seem fair but basically that's all you could do in that amount of time. And it won't stay off. 1-2 lbs a week is a good, healthy weight loss. Using a good diet plan and exercise you will, over the course of several weeks lose the weight. And THEN, it will even stay off if you keep watching. There's no such thing as a quick fix.

You multiply the 15 lb by ,03 and you get ,45 lb which is about a half pound.

If you have access to a computer that runs EXCEL, you can let it make a spreadsheet that shows all the weights in one column and 3% of them in another column. Then when you weigh a dog you just look up that weight in one column and read the food amount in the other column.

Take the percent number and multiply it against the 15. This gives you 45. Move the decimal two places to the left. This gives 0.45lbs. Half a pound is good enough.

3%=3/100

3% of 15 = (3/100) x 15
= .03 x 15
= .45
3% of 15lbs = .45lb= 9/20lb
That is divide 15lbs into 20 parts and take 9 of the parts.

try this formula and dont forget it cuz u never know when you might need it again:

x / 15 = 3 / 100
Cross-multiply: 100x = 45 (operations for this are: 45/100)

x= 0.45 lb.
1 kilogram = 2.20 lb
0.45 / 2.20 = 0.20 kilograms
kilo means "thousand," so .20 kilograms = 200 grams

16 ounces in a pound. 15 pounds is 15 x 16 = 240 ounces. 1% of 240 ounces is 2.4 ounces. 3% is 3 x 2.4 = 7.2 ounces. Woof, woof.

3% can be written as 0.03
so 0.03 x 15 = 0.45 pounds

to convert pounds to kilograms, you divide by 2.2.
0.45 / 2.2 = 0.20 kg (200 grams).

hope this helps!
