I am having trouble naming this chain. If anyone can help your response is greatly appreciated. The bond between CH and O is a DOUBLE BOND. Thanks. (Please ignore the periods, that was the only way I could line everything up correctly)

Doesn't everybody? I don't know what AIPAC is upto lately. Every time they meet, they screw up all the old naming systems. Rule 1, identify the compound. I think nowadays this would be an "anal". Find the longest chain. I would consider this a butanal. Start numbering at the compound's attribute leading to its name and work backwards to identify side groups. Thus, we have
2,2-dimethyl-butanal.

2,2-Dimethyl Butyraldehyde
You were probably having troubles because you were assuming that the base chain was H3C-CH2-C-CH3
when you should have put H3C-CH2-C-CH=O as the main chain.
