Is a line intersects two sides of a triangle so that it is parallel to the remaining side, then it divides those two sides into proportional segments.

Ok, from http://library.thinkquest.org/C006354/7_3.html , I gather that when two lines are parallel, and one runs through the leg of a triangle (i,e., they share more than one point), the other (assuming it intersects the two other legs of the triangle) line creates a similar triangle, and the three original angles are conserved in the smaller triangle. I hope this helps. Kind of hard to put geometry into words.

If a line parallel to one side of a triangle intersects the other two sides, then it divides those sides proportionally.
