Ok, I have long hair. My friends keep telling me put layers in it. You'll look sooo cute. Im taking it into consideration.
Is there anyway I can get long layers and then at the end of my hair have the end of it U-Shaped? Would that be cute?
What is the purpose of layered hair? What does it do to the hair?

Also, would it cute if I added some short pieces, like ones that are up to my chin, only one. Would that be cute?

what's the purpose?
what does it do?
there is no purpose..
it doesn't do anything.
it's just a style.
but i don't know about having pieces that's up to your chin.
you should go to a professional,
one that has a good reputation,
& ask them their advice.
if they're anything like the person that does my hair..
you'll look good.

Hi there- I think your friends have a good idea there. Layering would basically make your long hair look thicker and more lush. Sure, you can get long layers- but I'm not sure what you mean about the U-shaped bit...The purpose of layered hair is to make your hair look even thicker and fuller than it does now. I'd get your stylist's opinion- and flip through some magazines- my favorite for hair and cosmetics- Allure- and maybe you can get some ideas. Good luck! But if you feel comfortable with your hair the way it is, and I must say, I am so envious, (my hair is in a bob) I wish my hair was long, anyway, if you feel comfortable with the way it is, then you should leave it alone. But sometimes trying something new is a good thing, too. Don't mean to confuse you here. Just trying out the pro's and con's.

Getting your hair layered would look good, but it also depends on the way the rest of your hair is cut. The layers should flow into the rest of the hair. Having your hair layered will provide more shape and movement to it. If you get your hair layered, most of the time it will end up in a U-shape. You can always ask specifically for it to be shaped like that. The best way is to find a picture of the hairstyle that you want and cut it out from a magazine than show it to the hairstylist.

Layered hair can really bring out your face! You could get your hair in a U- shape too, but don't cut of too much of it. It would look really cute, especially if your hair is straight!! Good Luck !

putting layers in your hair will add volume, and body. Long layers look cute on most face shapes...I think all but oval. (makes the face look longer) I don't see anything wrong with getting soft layers with a U shape.

If you have a square jaw--layers WILL look cute. Having a few strands at your chin will look especially cute, too.

My hair is cut like that. I love it. Layering makes your hair thicker and gives it more body.
