Don't focus too much on your 40 time. In fact don't focus on it at all. When are you, an offensive lineman, going to run 40 yards? Work on your 10 yard sprint, how quickly you go in ten yards. This will help your speed in the short distances that O-linemen run. It will also emphasize getting a quick start more than the 40, and a quick start is very important on the O-line. The 2 most important things to work on are foot work and handwork. Your feet must be moving constantly so that no one can get by you or knock you on your butt. You must use your hands so that you can push guys away and keep them from getting by you, WITHOUT holding them and getting your team a penalty. If your coach or coaches cannot teach you the proper hand and footwork, watch footage from the offensive lineman drills at the combine (they accentuate the footwork. Footage can be found if you have the NFL Network they play Combine stuff all the time.) and watch footage of the professional linemen, especially on a team with a great offensive line, like the Colts. Also, make sure you keep lifting and stay strong. Good luck!

As a lineman I would advise several things. First, squat and bench are great, but don't get caught up in them. You need to powerclean, power snatch (this is a real lift), basically any lift that emphasizes explosion. This will help you not only get off the ball faster, but it will help you 40 time. Outside of the weight room you need to make sure your technique is perfect. In your three point stance make sure you dont rest your elbow on you knee. Cock you hand back and put it on the side of your knee. This will allow you to give a sharp blast into the d-lines chest (or stomach). Keep your steps short and your base wide. To practice you can put an elastic resistance band around your ankles and duck walk. It will force you to use muscles that your normally dont. Finally, practice, practice, practice.

You just need practice kid. If what you're saying is true you have a lot of potential. Keep lifting and get with your coaches to create some sort of workout that will help you improve your lateral movements.
