Fred was the man back in the day but Jackson brought us the moonwalk and so much more so who was better....I think its Astaire all the way but what do u think

Fred Astaire, hands down.
I can't think of one celebrity today carries themselves with the poise or class of that man.

I could watch Fred and Ginger dance for hours. After a few minutes, you've seen all of Michael Jackson's moves. Fred Astaire is definitely the better of the two.

Oh by far Fred Astaire is, next would be Gene Kelly. Sure Micheal may have bought us the moonwalk, but have you seen Fred dance with that mop? Both he and Gene were so light on their feet.

Fred Astaire danced on the ceiling with the help of camera tricks... Pretty cool 50+ years ago. But, Micheal Jackson blew our minds with the moon walk without any visual effects what-so-ever! My vote goes to Jackson.

Fred Astaire was all dance...he was smooth and put danciing on the screen
Jackson is a singer and he is very multitalented....but his dancing can't compare to Fred Astaire...Jackson has to keep playing with his d*** when he dances...Fred Astaire never even mentions with his dancing that he has one...although al the women wish he were dancing with them...lol

you tell me- go to a club and bust out with a fred astaire move then do a lil MJ dance and watch the response of the crowd. Fred was great though, love singing in the rain

Michael Jackson has said that Fred Astaire has inspired him and Fred Astaire has given Michael compliments on his dancing. They are both great but I just prefer Michael's style of dancing better!
