I mean I feel bad for her but you don't have to tolerate that behavior. Why do women put up with abuse?

It is not for us to judge, we don't know what goes on behind close doors. He may of been a minister but knows how he treated his family. Only she and God knows what went on in that house.

Because the husband has spent months verbally harassing his wife and has convinced her she is useless and cannot possibly survive without him. And if she does try to leave, he'll take the kids away from her.

In his case, because he was a minister he would tell her that no one would believe her because he was better educated and a man of God.

If that had been me, I would have waited until he went to sleep, bopped him a good one on the head so he'd "sleep" longer and harder, packed my stuff, grabbed the kids and disappeared.

If you aren't a female, it is hard to understand the brain washing women receive from the time they are old enough to understand what marriage is about. And many men continue that brain washing because they think they are the king and all should bow in their presence. Especially ministers.

I hope she gets off. What she did was wrong, but we'll never know the hell he put her through.

CNN kept talking about the pump gauge shot gun she used. Anyone who hears that sound knows that it is a gun being ******. Why then, did he not turn around? There's more to this story than we know.

She seems disturbed to me! With all of the help out there for women now, she had no excuse if it was abuse that drove her to that. Self defense is protecting yourself during an act of violence or abuse, not when someone is in bed.

I have a Handgun Carry Permit. I have the right to shoot until the threat has been stopped. If I fire one time after the threat was stopped, I still can go to jail for murder.

She was not in immediate danger. Unfortunately, the law does not protect the abused very well, but the abused need to know where to go and their legal duties and limitations.

I don't think that was the whole story, was it? I thought they were caught up in some check kiting scheme and the bank was after them. If she was being abused, she should have gone to the police. Got a lawyer. Moved to another state. Not shot her husband in the back of the head. I don't think abuse was the only problem in this scenario. (from what i've read)

I don't understand how women who are being abused stay in the relationship. I'm not like that., so it's hard for me to understand.

I'll NEVER understand why ANYBODY lives in an abusive situation! I was hit for the last time several years ago. Nobody is ever going to hit me again. I'm nobody special, but I'm not going to stick around and get beat on either. I would drink muddy water, and sleep in a hollow log before I'd stay where I was abused. The common reason women give is, "but I love him"......hmmmmmm.....I'm going to love, somebody that beats me???? I do NOT think so! Not my idea of what a loving relationship is.
