It sounds that way but in fact there's some history to it...it's actually about a dance. Hully Gully was supposed to be the name of it but the radio stations banned it as they thought it sounded inappropriate...so they changed it last minute to Wooly Bully, the name of Sam's cat apparently.

The song is about Hully Gully, a dance, and Matty wanted Hatty to learn it.

Here's a blurb that I picked up on a site about the L7 etc.:

The L7 line means not being a square, as in geek, nerd, et cetera. Look at the back of your hands, the left one with fingers up/thumb out horizontal and the right hand/index finger touching the left index finger/right thumb vertical. See how the left forms an L and the right forms a 7? A square! Ya gotta stretch your imagination a bit, but that's what the L7 stands for in the song. It's Hattie encouraging Mattie to learn the dance called the Wooly Bully as it's the cool thing to do.

Hey, I loved the song...loved the 50s and 60s and would always seek out those types of bars to dance in back in the 80s! LOL

Here's the song for those who don't know it:

One, two, three, four
All right
Watch it, watch it
Say man

Hattie told Mattie
About a thing she saw
Had two big horns
And a wooly jaw

Wooly Bully, Wooly Bully
Wooly Bully, Wooly Bully
Wooly Bully

Hattie told Mattie
Don't you take no chance
Don't you be L7
Come and learn to dance

Wooly Bully, Wooly Bully
Wooly Bully, Wooly Bully
Wooly Bully

Hey watch it now, man
Watch it, watch it

Mattie told Hattie it's the thing to do
Get yourself a filly
To pull the wool with you

Wooly Bully, Wooly Bully
Wooly Bully, Wooly Bully
Wooly Bully

You got it, you got it

(Where they say "to pull the wool with you" my guess is it was once "to do the Hully Gully with you"....you can see where that would have fit in with the lyrics.)....and yes that is the line that sounds like it would be a little risque isn't it!!!!!
