It's in several pieces for one thing, not one nice piece of junk. Actually they could do it, but the cost would be tremendous. Besides, its a shrine to the dead.

The titanic suffered 'titanic' damage when it hit the ocean floor (not withstanding the fact that the ship broke in two on the surface before sinking to the bottom). Between the brittle deteriorating steel that forms it's hull, and the massive structural damage that occurred on impact with the bottom, it is simply impossible to lift the wreck to the surface without it collapsing into itself. The best you could hope to do is cut it up into pieces and haul it up jigsaw style. But then, why in the world would you want to do that?

Firstly, it's in two pieces. Secondly, it's deep at the bottom of the ocean where the pressure is pretty extreme. Thirdly, there's virtually no light down there. Forthly, it's it pretty bad physical condition and would break apart if anyone ever attempted to bring it up. Lastly, and most importantly, it's a gravesite, and it's right and proper to honour the 1500 people who died on that ship by not disturbing their grave,

If you look at actual pics of it, you will see that it broke in half and left a huge debris field. It wasn't in good shape to begin with and now after being underwater since 1912, it's decayed tremendously. Combine that with being miles under the sea, it could never handle being resurfaced. We'll just have to settle with the artifacts we can still get from it.
Another thing to remember, is that it's the place where thousands of people died, and we should also respect that and remember, to some people messing with it is desecration.

First of all, the "Titanic" is huge. Second of all, if they tried to bring it up, the entire thing would fall apart; the ocean/water pressure keeps the ship in tact, and we do not have any equipment that can help bring up the whole ship.

First of all it is huge. Even in pieces it is huge. Think aircraft carrier.
Secondly it would incredibly expensive. Why anyone would want to pay to raise it is beyond me.
Thirdly, ton's of people died on that boat. Why not raise the USS Arizona (sunk in pearl harbor)? Because it would be very rude to the people who died there.
Bad idea. However I would say that it is not impossible.

It's not necessarily impossible to bring it up. But, it hasn't been extracted for a number of reasons. Alot of people want it to stay down there in memory to the lives that were lost. Also, it would be really expensive "/

I think it has something to do with the amount of time it has been under in salt water. There are preservation processes that can be done to some things. Of course, there are technical terms, which I do not know, but I bet someone will copy and paste something for you.

Because it would fall apart with any attempt to retrieve it. Also, I've read that the descendants of the people who perished on the Titanic don't want it disturbed. It's sort of the tombstone of their watery grave.

I think it would be wrong, like pulling someone up out of their grave because you think it would be cool to look at. Lots of people died, now thats their burial place, i think its best to leave it be.We can still see pictures from when people go down to explore it
