Doesn't that contradict opposition?

I MESSED UP, I read the report wrong. It is CLOSE OPPOSITION. Any thoughts now? THank you:)

If there is strong opposition to something then someone or something really really does not want that thing to happen or proceed. Thats about as simple as I can put it.

a strong opposition isn't a contradiction. If someone is strongly opposed to something it just means that they're really against it. like "strongly" against it, not just wavering/ on the line about their objections.

"Strong opposition" means that a person or a group of people are against something aggressively.
Such as, "Our troops met with strong opposition from enemy forces when they entered the city of Baghdad".

It's a bit of an oxymoron, but I suppose it means you are against something and are applying some strength to oppose it.

However, if it is a politician who is saying this, you can count on it being just lip service.

It means that you are very strongly against something.

I am very strongly oppsosed to vaccinations/abortion/ premartial sex/etc
