I have a new computer and need some ideas

I bought a Belk transfer cable but it only works with XP. Plus, I don't want to spend much money.

I would use IntelliMover. It transfers whatever you tell it to. Settings, files, registry, everything. Use the Parallel cable for Windows 98 or 95 to higher transfers. By the way, I would not suggest moving to Windows Vista, as I have tried it, and it is not good at all. It freezes a lot on me, even though I bought a new computer. I had to end up paying a lot extra for the Windows XP operating system rather than Vista. IntelliMover is cheaper than getting a new hard drive. If it were me, though, I'd remove the hard drive from the new computer and put it temporarily into the old computer and just copy the files on to it directly using the same computer, or taking the hard drive out of the old computer and puuting into the new computer. For those not skilled in computers, I wouldn't suggest using that method. IntelliMover is easier. You don't need a CD burning drive, just a parallel port or USB port on both computers.

Good Luck.

There are different ways:

1) Burning it onto a CD/DVD and then transferring it to your new computer.
2) Set up a network between your old computer and your new computer - both have to be up and running at the same time, and then transfer the files.
3) Get an external hard drive, and drag all the files you want to the external hard drive, and then copy it onto your Vista computer.

DO NOT go to Windows Vista! It SUCKS! This is just as bad as Windows ME. You will be sorry. Stick to Windows XP Professional.
