The way they figure it out is weird. It should be right though.

The pregnancy site (along with your doctor) considers your pregnancy to have started when your egg was released from your ovary, so usually they go by last menstrual cycle. This is why so many people are "late" with their babies.

As for your test being negative the first time... Home pregnancy tests measure human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Your levels of this hormone are highest with your 1st morning urine as it has had a chance to become less diluted over night.

The science of pregnancies are not science they are to some degree and art and a guessing game. Each person is different, each proceeds along their own path. If it was a science and eexact in nature then with knowing the date of the conception they should be able to tell the xact date of delivery - right?

Well as you'll soon find out, it's as much guesswork as anything else. Good luck with the pregnancy and seek second opinions if something doesn't sound right to you along the way - professional, not here on this forum.

They calculate from the start of your last period, not the date of conception. So you are really about 10-14 days ahead of the conception date. Gestation is considered 40 weeks, but the baby is really only 38 weeks old.

Those dates are going from the date of your last period. Which would be just about 2 wks before you actually conceive. You get pregnant when you ovulate..........you ovulate approximately 14 days after the start of your last period.

Hope that makes sense to you!

The 40 weeks of pregnancy includes the two weeks between the start of your last period and when you ovulated and conceived.

It's counted from the first day of your last period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Not when you had sex. This is the cycle of the egg...beginning of life to some..
