Do you think there are specific songs aimed towards gays that they like more? People say "It's raining men" is a gay national anthem, almost.
But, what is your favorite "gay" song?
something that doesn't necessarily have to be about gay people, just one that appeals to them.
Mine is either "Island of Shame" by Lagwagon, or "Right to Choose" by antiflag. [both are actually about gay people, not just a homosexual interest or anything]

Melissa Etheridge: Scarecrow (A Matthew Shepard Tribute - truly haunting when you're in a crowd of 60,000 people who all take over singing it for Melissa because she broke down crying and coundn't continue)
Showers of your crimson blood
Seep into a nation calling up a flood
Of narrow minds who legislate
Thinly veiled intolerance
Bigotry and hate
But they tortured and burned you
They beat you and they tied you
They left you cold and breathing
For love they crucified you
I can't forget hard as I try
This silhouette against the sky
Scarecrow crying
Waiting to die wondering why
Scarecrow trying
Angels will hold carry your soul away
This was our brother
This was our son
This shepherd young and mild
This unassuming one
We all gasp this can't happen here
We're all much too civilized
Where can these monsters hide
But they are knocking on our front door
They're rocking in our cradles
They're preaching in our churches
And eating at our tables
I search my soul
My heart and in my mind
To try and find forgiveness
This is someone child
With pain unreconciled
Filled up with father's hate
Mother's neglect
I can forgive But I will not forget
Scarecrow crying
Waiting to die wondering why
Scarecrow trying
Rising above all in the name of love
It's Alright Lyrics
» Indigo Girls
It's alright forty days of rain
my skin stretched our from the growing pain
It'd be nice to have an explanation,
but it's alright
And it's alright if you hate that way,
hate me cause I'm different, hate me cause I'm gay
Truth of the matter come around one day so it's alright
I look at this lifeline stretched way all across my hand
I look at the burned out empty like a plague across the land
And for everything I learn there are two I don't understand
That's why I'm still on a search through the weather strewn church
I'm doing the best that I can
and it's alright
And it's alright though we worry and fuss, we can't get over the hump or get over us
It seems easier to push than to let go and trust but it's alright
When we get a little distance some things get clearer
Give em the space our hearts grow nearer
I ran as hard as I could and still ended up here
but it's alright
I look at this lifeline stretched way all across my hand
I look at the fires of hatred burning up the bounty of this beautiful land
I know I'm small in a way but I know I'm strong
And it's my thirst that brought me to the water when I give it all up then she carries me on and it's alright
Yeah it's alright
And it's alright though I feel afraid
my plans in pieces my plans mislaid
It's the will of the way the will of the way the will of the only way
that could have brought me here today and it's alright.

Pretty much if is got a good beat and you can dance to it - it counts... That said; "Lovers in a Dangerous Time" - Bare Naked Ladys, "Better than Chocolate" -Sarah McLachlan, "Not Gonna Get us" or anything else by Tatu, "We are the Champions" by Queen, YMCA, "If I were Gay" by Stephan Lynch, Homosapien by simpleminds, Androgenous by Crash Test Dummies, Anything by Ferron, RuPaul, The Fabulous Dyketones, Gertrude Stein ... in fact if it wasn't for gays songs there wouldn't be much music.

"Iowa" by Dar Williams
I've never had a way with women,
But the hills of Iowa make me wish that I could,
And I've never found a way to say I love you,
But if the chance came by, oh I, I would
and later,
How I long to fall just a little bit,
To dance out of the line, and stray from the light,
But I fear that to fall in love with you
Is to fall from a great and gruesome height.
Sigh. It so perfectly captures those feelings of first longing for something society says is denied you.

"I'm coming out" by Diana Ross. Its great, all of the lyrics fit so well with gay pride, plus its a great song even without the gay thing.

Then walk away
from the greatest lover you have ever known.

By yourself all alone without my help
mister you just made a big mistake.
You think you're a man
but you're only a boy
You think you're a man
you are only a toy.
you think you're a man
but you just couldn't see
You were not man enough to satisfy me.

Shut the door
take a look around and tell me what you find.

No don't come back
'cause no one makes a fool of me
You've got a nerve to walk away

In the Navy by the Village People..I still remember the Muppets putting it on (yes, I'm dating myself) but that's my archtypical "gay" song. I love it.

You already said it. I'm a big fan of "It's Raining Men."
I also like Helen Reddy's "I am Woman." I replace "woman" with "gay man" when I sing it.
"I'm a gay man hear me roar, in numbers too big to ignore..."
