I have the same dilemma. I am a very loud snorer and I am seeing a man at the moment who knows I snore, but it doesnt worry him. But my problem is that when we decide to live together will the "acceptance" now turn into anger and he will end up sleeping on the couch too. I dont want that to happen. I have read about many "remedies", but have never been in a situation to try them out because I live on my own at the moment. I have seen many relationships where the same thing occurs.....in the beginning.....love is enough and you handle the "little" things, but as time moves on the snorring does take its toll....it stops your partner from getting a good nights sleep and I dont want our relationship to end up with him sleeping on the couch....so I will be very interested in the responses you get. I empathize with you totally. I just think its great that you recognize there is a problem and want to do something about it too. Sure, I was married before and he handled the snoring. He was a shift worker, so I guess it wasnt too bad, but he would say when he came home, he would roll me on my side and say to himself, hes got 5 minutes to get sleep before I started snoring again and try desperately to get to sleep in that time....lol. I know I am no help, I just wanted to let you know that you are not the only person who worries about the implications of snoring on a relationship. Good luck. I will be studying the answers you get interest.

I left a guy because of his snoring. I thought wearing earplugs would help but it only muffled the sound and at one point I started taking pain pills because they make you drowsy and helped me sleep through the night but I didn't want to make that a regular thing so I left. I think you should go to the doctor and see if there is a surgery that can help. Snoring lightly is normal but if it's really really bad more than likely something is wrong. What's the harm in just asking a doctor his medical opinion?

I'll be watching this question for a good answer myself. My wife snores like an ogre. We bought the throat spray, which she refuses to use because it's got a nasty mint taste, so I don't know if that works. The nasal strips don't work because the snore is deep in her throat, so I just bought myself some sleeping pills! That seems to work for now! Good luck!

Talk to your doctor there is outpatient surgery that can cure some snoring... There are also throat sprays...

Snoring can be a sign of sleep apnea which can be deadly.. So seeing a doctor and getting a full exam is a good idea...

My husband has the same problem..And I don't sleep with him at all. His snoring isn't just bad it's aweful. I'm just now pulling myself off of sleeping pills because he convinced me that I should do something about it if I couldn't sleep. So sleeping pills is what I started doing. But it was he that should have gotten help. I ish he would because I just don't see me ever sleeping next to him as long as he snores that bad. I can't stand listening to it that bad that I've considered other options. But maybe the best thing to do until you get something done about it..is sleep in seperate rooms.

You might have sleep apnea. Please go get it checked out as this is a serious thing. If you snore LOUD then you at some point stop for a few seconds and start up again. You might stop breathing for a few seconds. Please see a doctor
as the strips are not going to help.

I wish I knew the answer to this one! My husband snores REALLY BAD. I made him sleep on the couch a few times because I just needed to sleep.I even recorded him sleeping to show him how bad it is.
My only guess would be to talk to a doctor because he could figure out a solution. Now if I could only get my husband to go....

I was looking on a site about electrictronic gadgets, and they have a wrist watch looking thing that sends electric shocks to you when you snore. They are not strong enough to wake you up, or hurt you. It is a way of training yourself not to snore

yep. i slept on the couch for a good 3 months.
but finally i found a solution [the couch was KILLING my back!!! lol]
my husband uses a spray prescribed by our doctor, and it works amazingly. the strips definately didnt work for him either. i cant remember exactly what the name was, but there are only about 4 sprays on the market. 3 otc, and the other prescription. the otc's dont work near as well as the prescription, however.

i really suggest u get that snoring checked, my husband also snores like a bear, i have spoken to doctors and i've been told that intensive snoring is a result of having osa- obstructive sleep apnea. it's when ur tonsils close up and u cant get enough oxygen while sleeping thus- snoring! u wake up tired and sometimes with a headache. please get this taken care of.
