I'm guessing the director left out this bit of information out on purpose.

where in low budget or B movies, there may be a minor or insignificant plot point that may not have an explination.

So taking this into account, cherry's leg gun may not need an explination.

Also if you remember, El Wray says to her "I made this for you"... though if you think about it.. when would he have time to do this? while in the holding cell with the others? while walking on the way to rescue them?

haha, in these movies, certain things were meant to be taken with a grain of salt... so to speak.
