My baby is 4 months old and I am trying to figure out which soap is better recommended, Ivory or Dove. Or are they both equal?

you really should use baby bath and baby shampoo on a baby..les risk of hurting eyes and you dont want to take a chance with the baby's delicate skin..even though ivory and dove are probably the most mildest soaps on the market it still can lead to an allergic reaction to an infant...but if you have to use bar soap go with unscented dove..i just asked my brother and he said if you have to make a choice between dove and ivory go with dove....he's a dermatologist..take care!

Is Ivory Soap Safe

I wasn't aware that Dove and Ivory made baby soaps, and if you're talking about the regular versions then the answer is neither. Your baby would end up getting some in his or her eyes and things would just go downhill from there. You don't actually NEED any soap on a baby, water alone is just fine (my baby can't have soap because of her eczema). For my son we always used Johnson and Johnson, just find a no-tear formulation.

Neither, Johnson and Johnson is the best for babies. Dove and Ivory can cause irration and such. I even get rashes some times from that kind of soap.

Actually, ivory soap may be more gentle than baby wash. It has no dyes or perfumes in it. I wouldn't worry about using it on your baby. You will want to make sure to rinse him or her well though, because bar soap can leave a residue behind.

I personal found dove to be better for my son, they have baby dove soap bars and it seems to leave the skin feeling softer, and their seems to be less chemicals/perfume in it. MY son had sensitive skin and dove was actually the only one I could use on him, just make sure it is baby soap which ever one you go with they all should have less chemicals and per fum in it

I'm not so sure. I usually use Dove. My sister has a baby who is five months old and she uses Johnson soap for her baby's baths. It's the best soap! Plus you can get Johnson Baby products.

My son`s doctor recommend I use Dove soap on him at 4 months because he had some dry patches of skin on his arm and leg. I switched him and it has gone away completely and hasn`t come back! (he is 9 months old now) I would definitely go with dove.. !!

I spent most of my life in a Dermatologists' office. I could not even set at my desk at school and lay my bare arms on the desk without them breaking out badly. From the powers of deduction I came to being able to use ONLY Ivory soap, gloves for everything else. No makeup or anything with perfumes. When I had my girls I was told to only use what I could handle on my skin on them. They could not wear the ,just coming on the market, disposable diapers, something in the "stay dry" lining broke them out in rashes. The only lotion I found I could use was Baby Magic, period. Well there is my life I carry Baby Magic with me and use it as a hand wash when I am out. The Ivory never broke out my girls and they grew up with beautiful skin. They did not have the problems I had, Thank God. I found out many years later what was in the "stay dry" lining of diapers, when I was driving truck and hauling chemicals, there is this little mixture of MEK, isopropyl alcohol, caustic and a few other interesting ingredients, I hauled it from Five Mile Island in WV to Dow Chemical in Midland MI. Got a breath of it while unloading it and ended up with double pleurisy, yeah. Bad stuff, they showed me it draws the moisture away from your skin, thus the stay dry component. Just thought you might like to know what is on your baby's little bottom.
