I have a compaq presario with an amd sempro 3100 processor. According to all of the dvd burners I have looked at they require at least a Pentium 3 with 800 mhz and recommend a Pentium 4 130mhz. I will upgrade the processor on this comp. but there don't seem to be many choices there either. HELP

YES of course!

Your Sempron 3100+ is NO weakling! In terms of performance, it will outrun any Pentium 3 anytime, any day. It will even outperform many of the old Pentium 4 (Willamette and some Northwoods).

Your Sempron 3100+ is also a pretty decent overclocker, especially on a good Mobo. I've got one that I could speed up from 1.8Ghz (stock) to 2.4Ghz. But of course I'm not using the stock HSF.

I'll bet you could run a dvd burner with that sempron. Look at it this way. Buy the burner and try it. If you're not happy with the results ( and i still bet it'll work) you can always upgrade mother board, memory , and cpu, and put your new burner to work with the new stuff. You may have to limit the number of programs running while you are burning. Pop an LG burner in there...use Nero 6 and sit back. Good luck

Almost any DVD burner will work on your computer, assuming you have a free port to connect it
