I have a family of 5 and live a modest life. No trips to europe, no new cars, so what seems like a lot to me might seem like a pitiance to the guy tat is end debt up to his eyes and goes on the 2-3 cruises a year. And what I make, might make some single person with no family to care for think I am living high on the hog. So there really is no answer to your question.
More to the point, if the guy was bragging,then more than likely he will never make enough money for the lifestyle he chooses to live. The more you make the more bills you will have.....some more so than others.

It all depends on the career field. For example a public school teacher making $50K is making a lot of money but a corporate lawyer making that same amount of money is not. To me a lot of money is making twice as much as some one in the same field with at least 5 years of experience - which in my case would be about $120K and I'm not there yet.
