...with thousands of people (including children) dying each YEAR from asthma attacks.
And there is no let up in sight,
I personally know of at least 12 kids who have been diagnosed with it, and all of them are under the age of 7.

What do you think is causing this,
and why wasn't it around much in the boomer or the WWII generations..

just gen X, gen Y and our children?

I'll give three hypothesis

1) My best guess would be that it is because more and more asthma remedies have come on the market in the past 30 years. If there is no treatment for an ailment, doctors don't tend to know much about it. Maybe they used to call it "shortness of breath" or just tell people to take it easy. But people didn't get a diagnosis of "Asthma" very often. But, as treatments come available, doctors learn more about the illness. AND they issue a diagnosis to go along with the prescription they are writing.

I'm not implying any kind of sinister conspiracy here, that is just the way medical education goes.

2) That there has been a huge increase in population in arid parts of the country. As people move to places like Arizona and southern Cal, they bring plants with them that didn't grow there before. The plant lawns and flowers. These things spew pollen. The pollen and other airborne particulate matter doesn't get cleared out of the air like in rainy parts of the country causing allergies and other respiratory ailments.

3) People used to open their windows year round to get fresh air. Now we are all air conditioned and keep our windows sealed and have air-tight homes. This is kind of the opposite of #2 where I was inplicating outdoor pollutants but maybe there are indoor things that build up - and mold - which affect people's breathing.

4) (Okay I thought of another) People are more obese today. Obese people tend to have more trouble breathing.

I think all of these things play some role in what you are asking about. There might be other things, too.

Food additives are only a part of the problem.

There are thousands of artificial chemicals in the environment, oozing into the air and water as well as the soil and our food. They come from clothing, furnishings, plastic products, gasolene, just about everything we use.

Children are brought up in an increasingly sterile environment which keeps their immune system from developing, so it easily overloads when confronted with pollen for example. It is constantly busy and under stress trying to get rid of man-made chemicals from the body.

It is from PCB's and air pollution. If you lived anywhere near a automotive plant, and had your new car get rained on with acid rain, and the paint came off, you would realize that this might not be real good to breath too. General Motors has been repainting cars for years now, even they are aware of their pollution to the environment.

i don't see that dresses. I see a surprising, proficient, humorous guy. i like ya only the way you're, ((((((((((Jack)))))))))). No faith, no sickness can replace that. And, to be truthful, i don't provide a rat's asss what any faith has to assert approximately HIV - or homosexuality. So, i won't be able to relatively say the way it is been motivated by using it. usual, faith keeps to be standard in an afternoon and age while humanity could be previous such archaic thinking because of the fact human beings like to have an excuse to decide others - a minimum of, that's proper to the Abrahamic religions. And, I say "screw 'em".

Food additives and artifical chemical ingredents. You'll find modified corn syrup in everything except all natural food, for instance. Above all, bioengineered food is a huge factor, and the real damage is only starting.

'Better life through chemistry', if it makes corporations money, right?
