Church attendance is down is recent years by a significant amount. Do you think this is due to the increasing amount of scientific explanations, or maybe that the world is becoming a crapier and crapier place to live in with humans mistreating each other everyday (like suicide bombers), a combination of both, or something else?

Also, do you think that religion will diminish to include only the minority of people in the near future, or is it destined to remain in the human psyche forever?

Religion has always had its ups and down. Throughout history there have been declines in attendance, always followed by revivals.
I know this is going to sound trite, but I truly don't believe it has anything to do with science, war, global warming or any other "crappy" thing going on in the world. I think it has more to do with man not "needing" to believe, at this point in time. You see it here, in Q & A all the time. "If God loves us why do bad things happen?" "Is there really a heaven.." these questions don't come from fear of technology, war, scientific advances, what have you. They come from man, who is now so sophisticated, so innundated with past lives, spiritualism, after life, reincarnation that simple belief is no longer adequate. It no longer answers where, when and why. In a few years, I'd wager, there will be a return to the churches...if, IF, the churches continue to grow and adapt.
Man, no matter how far we explore, or how vast our knowledge and power becomes, will always need something to believe in....something to explain the inexplicable.

I attend a large church that has many diverse ministries to satisfy diverse needs. the reason I chosen this church replaced into because I had met the pastor at the same time as he replaced into in yet another ministry, and that i loved him and his way of delivering the message. I had no concept on the time I met him that he ought to ever have a church in my section, or that it ought to advance as quick because it did. The church has a marvelous newborn's ministry, alongside with Sunday college and also many different events which incorporates events, field journeys, summer season camps, etc. I confer with some individuals outdoors of the facilities, and infrequently flow early sufficient to socialise over espresso and donuts. many folk that are new to the realm are very overjoyed with the probabilities to satisfy others. If i did not have the that I do have so close to to me, i'm positive that i should be extra in touch with the socializing element it really is accessible. notwithstanding, i ought to in all likelihood attend an identical church if lots of those opportunities to socialise were no longer accessible, as i like the training, preaching, the humility of the pastor and also the worship type. we've earphones accessible for interpretations of the service in Spanish and Korean, and it replaced into presented that we've a want to have some extra Asian dialects translated. ( i recognize the cultural range.) I did substitute church homes at the same time as my little ones were youthful because the church I attended replaced into very small, and ought to no longer provide the events that a larger church is in a position to provide. I nevertheless fellowship with the individuals of the church I left. i do no longer attend each Sunday, and characteristic each so often considered it "church" to wish with kinfolk and pals on the farm and share bible verses with one yet another.

I believe people have too much on their agendas they don't allow time for church. I don't think it means there are any less Christians tho, as you can worship God regardless of where you are. Now more than ever I believe we need God in our lives. With the state of the world being like it is, we need more prayer, more lives trusting in God protecting His children. Regardless of church attandance, I believe more & more folks are realizing God is the only true answer. I believe whole hartedly the teachings in the Bible are becoming more fulfilled as time goes by. With the wars, the nations that are fighting against one another is all in the Bible. God did promise He is going to come again, & all those who believe in Him & who turn their lives over to Him are going to go to the place He is preparing for us - Heaven. My Dad was a "preacher", & the things he spoke about yrs. ago when I was a child are coming to pass. His word, the Bible, speaks the truth. All those who give their hearts & lives to Him will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. He promised if it were not true, He would not have told us so. Be ready, He IS coming again. John 3:16, For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, whosoever believith in Him shall NOT perish, but have ever lasting life. Get a "Living Bible", written in easier down to earth writing. Read it w/an open mind & open heart. I am looking forward to seeing all my loved ones who've gone on before me, including my little granddaughter we just lost recently. Yes, our hearts are broken, but she gave her heart to the Lord, we KNOW we w/see her again. God bless, & I hope this touched just one person & what I said was not in vain!!!

Attending church does not a Christian make. My answer is based on the Christian faith only. I would not know about other beliefs.

Scientific explanations or speculations shouldn't cause a churchgoer to lose faith in God. People may be dismayed at the lack of answers coming from the pulpit, but it doesn't change the Bible's answers. There are many confusing doctrines that leave believers unsettled.

Every spiritual question man has can be answered by the Word of God. The answers are there.

According to the Bible, the world church will eventually crumble and fall. Christians will come under persecution as the world tries to rid itself of God.

God has given every man a measure of faith as well as the breath of life. It is up to the individual to seek to fill that empty place that can only be filled by God.

Church attendance has always been cyclical in this nation going from high points to low points, and ultimately causing great revivals. The last great revival was around 1910, although many may argued that the attacks of September 11th, have caused this country to go into a 4th great revival. Think about it, for the first time in years we have a president who openly claims to be a Christian and claims to act exclusively upon his convictions. Religion has always been around and it will always be around because people feel insignificant in times of trouble and they need something to hold onto.

Church attendance could be down due to people getting so caught up in their daily busy lives that they feel that they can do it on their own. Personally, I believe that it depends on your personal relationship with God. He doesn't just want to be in your weekly routine, just something you do on Sundays anyway. Though I believe that fellowship is an important part of spiritual growth, I also believe that just going to church is not going to make you a Christian any more than going to McDonald's will make you a hamburger. He wants to be your friend. He wants to come down and sit in your situation. He wants to be the one you rely on and look to when you are in need.

Look at all the atrocities that have been committed in the name of religion. Regardless of scientific progress, a certain percentage of the population will always be religious because of a psychological need. For my opinion of religion click here http://www.whywontgodhealamputees.com also http://evilbible.com You should also check your comment box in your Absolute Cold question for another point of view about that.

I think it's because of priests who molested children, so everyone assumes all of them do it. Most parents now don't drag their kids with them to church if the kids don't want to go. Some people believe the church is corrupt and places too much emphasis on money, some dislike the church's beliefs on gay marriage, abortion, etc.

Ok, and WOW, suicide bombing has NOTHING to do with church attendance.

I regard it as evidence of evolution: people are starting to wise up, and not believe that religious BULLSH!T they have been force fed for centuries, by people with a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, priests, preachers, rabbi's & imams.

i see there being a massive increase in church attendance in the future. i think the pews will be full every Sunday and the churches that have not given into to the sin of pride of intellect will be the most full . that is the roman catholic church and the churches such as the Christan reformed church .
i think churches such as the united church of Canada will be closed due to lack of members as will most of the churches that have thought themselves smarter then God and have as a result done such things as ordained homosexuals married gays. suggested that Christ is not really the son of god things such as these will be the downfall of most of the ultra liberal churches .
people will flock to the churches that have stayed the coarse trusted in the teachings of the bible and have never suggested that the bible is just a general hypothetical guide not to be taken as the truth .
