The dog is a Beagle/German shepard mix. I think he just wants to play with the cats, but they want nothing to do with him. One of the cats is 3 years old and has been around a couple dogs before but never one who is they active as this. The other cat is 8 months and has never been around dogs at all.

Okay. Here you go... works like a charm.

Take two empty cat food tins and wash them out. Put a small handful of pennies in one of the tins. Put the other tin on so that the openings of the tins are together, making a tin container with pennies inside. Wrap duct tape around the tins. Shake vigrously as needed. Beagle/shepard will learn quickly not to do the things that cause the noise!

Also, it might drive you crazy, but your dog will learn quickly. You won't have to do this forever. We had to train our beagle this way for just a few weeks, and now we do not need the can at all.

If you are really creative, you can use a Sharpie to draw funny pictures on the tins! Good luck with the dog and cats!

give him daily walks and exercise that will make him tired and not want to chase the cats. You might also want to make sure your cats have a safe spot that they can go and the dog cant. Also because he is a puppy that means he has more energy so make sure you walk him at least two times a day or play ball, let him go swimming, take him to a dog park and that will help him release the built up energy and then he will hopefully not want to chase/play with the cats.

Well... when I brought home our puppy she chased our cats around like crazy and our cats felt the same way. But after like a week or so the cats got used to her and the puppy seemed like it just wanted someone to play with. So now they play all the time. :) So don`t worry aboout it.

Put the dog and the cats in two separate parts of the house for a while. Eventually, they'll get used to living in the same area but you should introduce them gradually and in a controlled setting.

Get a spray bottle, fill it with water, and zap the pup with a fine mist every time he chases a cat.

Don't worry, the puppy will find out when the cats decide they have had enough.

Just sit back and relax, the cats will teach him that lesson themselves.
