van halen needs to be mentioned here that guy was great, guys like hendrix and van halen were inivative in there playin techniques, and page made the double neck what it is and could play the hell outta anything, blues:no question clapton and SRV are the greats and slash is just a master guitarist hes awesome, metal you got guys like mustaine and hammet,and more progressive you have yngwie malmsteen satrani and Vai,so it really depends on what type of music your talking about to determine great guitarist
