My boyfriend and I might be moving into a house if the loan gets approved and there are two windows on the porch and whoever redid the house painted them yellow, like on the glass. Totally painted so no light can get in. Is there any way of getting the paint off?

Use a razor blade - one of the one sided ones. Once you start a scrape in the paint, it will come off easily.

There are paint strippers (in cans) that you can buy from hardware shops. You just paint these on, wait a while and then scrap the softened paint off with a flat bladed scraper. Depending on how thick the paint is it might take a while. You can slow down the evaporation rate of the stripper by applying plastic film over the window once its on. This helps it penetrate.

If the paint is already flaky you could try just scraping it off, but this might leave scratches on your glass. Best go with the paint stripper.

Use a one sided razor blade to scrape the paint off. Use some accetone to wipe the window down after. Then a good clean up with a good window cleaner.

Varsol/mineral spirits is the best cleaner around and very under-rated.
Get a spray bottle, fill it up with the stuff and spray it... let it soak a bit and scrape it with something with a stiff edge or a razor blade as mentioned above.
Once you have it all off, wash the glass with soap and water a couple of times and finish with windex.

Good Luck!

There is such a thing called a glass scraper which has a blade that pushes out and is safer to use than a razor blade. You should be ale to get it at any home center such as home depot.

Use a brand new sharp utility knife razor blade - you can get a pack from your local home improvement store very cheap - it scrapes everything off of glass.

Try a razorblade/boxknife blade, if that doesnt work try a paint stripper to loosen it up.

Paint thinner and a paint scraper should do the trick.
