I have a 5 month old so I have recently been pregnant, and I really don't remember being stuck with needles too many times. I think only once early on in my pregnancy for a blood test. Unless you have a high-risk pregnancy I can't think of any reasons you would be getting stuck with needles often. Then at the hospital when you are ready to deliver, they just stick you one time to put an IV in, and it really doesn't hurt at all. They administer your meds through the IV so you aren't getting stuck every time they give you a dose. Just try to think of the wonderful life you are creating, and how awesome it will be to hold and love your beautiful baby. Believe me, women can get through EVERYTHING for their children!
It's really not bad - I promise. Like me, you won't even remember any of it in a couple of months. :)

Sweetie if anyone is a chicken going to the Dr. & dealing with needles its ME!
When I was pregnant with my first I felt like I would never be able to appreciate my pregnancy because I was so sick all the time & I'm so afraid of going to the Dr. & having needles stuck in me but you just have to deal with it for your sake & the baby's sake.I just told myself "ok I 'll be scared for a little while but I AM going to come out alive nothing bad is gonna happen to me".
That's what you have to tell yourself. In the end you'll have a beautiful baby that you can call your own & who is going to bring you more joy than you can imagine!Whenever I went to have blood work done the girls that worked in the Dr.'s office already new that they had to have me lay down for that procedure or else I'd fall flat on the floor(pass out).So don't worry we all go through this If I could do it you could too!Best of luck.
PS. If it makes you feel more comfortable have someone you trust go with you to the Dr.'s appointments.

I have had 3 kids. Every pregnancy and doctor was different. Sometimes, I felt like a pin cushion and others I never even saw a needle.
Let your doctor know how much you hate/ fear needles and he can either minimize testing, test in alternative ways or just give you the best and most experienced phlebotomist on their staff.
I hate needles, too. I didn't see them too much with my first baby, but my second was a high risk pregnancy and I was getting stuck all the time. I got used to it, kept distracted, tried not to be nervous and chatted with a friend or the phlebotomist doing the blood draw.
Just remember that its all about protecting you and your baby's health.

you will be fine the only time that you really have a needle is if you get an epidermil and you can't see it if you really don't want to . I don't like needles and that is the only time I can think of other than just getting the usual blood test

I hate them too. The trick is to not think about them. Keep your mind off blood work and tests and all that. When the time comes to have it done, you'll get nervous for a minute or two and then it'll be done. At least now needles are for a good reason...maintaining the health of you and your baby!

Don't be scared your body was MADE to bring life into the world. It knows what it's doing. As for needles I only had blood taken once or twice at the beginning at that is it! If you are young and healthy you should look into having a midwife. Much less interventions like Caesareans and Epidurals. Lots of luck!

alot of women do get scared or pass out but if u find it so bad 2 get any type of needle then ask if u can have some1 in the same room with u to talk 2 u when it happens so when they do it u wont really feel it because u will be distracted from the nip
good luck

Needles suck!!! I am with you on that. I would try to take someone with you to Dr. appointments that you are going to have tests run, like your hubby, boyfriend, mother, or just a really good friend that can hold your hand and distract you while it's going on.
You would not believe how many claw marks I have put into my husbands arm lately LOL.
You will be fine and it will all be worth it

Yeah I hated needles to but guess what I dealt with it. You have to you don't have a choice. Plus most of the people who take your blood are awesome at it and it barely hurts. Good luck be a champ, its all for a healthy baby.
