I was planing on puting one right after the catalic converter. I have a 1998 Chevy 1500 V6 4.3 liter pickup. I have heard that a V6 just sounds like crap and I was wondering if that is only if it goes through the muffler and the rest of the exhaust piping.

Save your money that V-6 does sound bad with open exhaust. Flow master and dual exhaust still sounds like a V-6. Cut outs are illegal and making a V-6 loulder won't make any one happy. The best option is replace that truck with a Vortec V-8 powered one that get's the same gas mileage. 1,800 rpms resonate and sounds rough. That is 55 mph in top gear.

Go with a Mccord power plate. I ran one with no problems for years. Basically you can open and close it whenever your please. Want to drown out that civic"fart can" beside you, just reach down push the switch and done. Also helps if your driving through the neighborhood at night! BTW Im not a big fan of the quicktime cutouts!

It would sound ridicules and you would probably get some type of ticket, but most important your vehicle would probably never pass inspection again.

I my past experience everyone that install exhaust cutouts always had some sort of exhaust leaks or malfunction with this system.

If you want it loud, put the cutout just ahead of the catalytic converter. That would make it L-O-U-D!!! But I wouldn't advise it as you're looking at ticket possibilities, plus some hassles when it comes time for State inspection.

I agree that it sounds like crap. To make it sound nice, put in a 350.
