I told her she was creating work for herself and she yelled at me and stuck her finger in my face (in a restaurant!) saying I had no idea what I was talking about. Now she is acting like teenage girl - making her assitant call me, and refusing to sit with me at lunch (small town - few restaurants.) Do I need to apologise? Or does she?

Sounds like she's under a lot of pressure. Likely it's mostly self induced as well.

While you may not technically be at fault, she's looking for an apology. So if you want to be back on good terms, just apologize.

Personally, I've dealt with this kind of thing, but I usually don't bother with the person after that. If they can't handle an opinion that was offered in a friendly manner then it won't be long before I make them mad at me again. Sometimes they come around and realize you meant no harm and you can be friends again. The ones that hold a grudge for something like this really aren't worth the hassle to begin with.
