If so, do you possess something known as the 'second sight' where if you look at an object, you immediately notice the geometric shapes that make it up? Can you teach me?

Everything in the universe can be described by geometry of one kind or another. "Seeing" the shapes is a matter of looking at a thing, or person, as a flat thing, and mentally viewing the shapes as similar to the geometric shapes you are familiar with. For example, a face: The forehead is a rectangle, the nose a triangle, the mouth is four triangles put together (or two diamonds), etc.
You can do this for vases, houses (kids do this when they draw a house as a square with a triangle on top of it,) landscapes, trees and anything you want to draw.
To start out, just draw some things you are familiar with as just the geometric shapes they are composed of. After you can see this with the easier objects, try it with animals and people. Fill a small sketchbook with this kind of practice, and you'll be seeing the geometrics of almost everything. Then you can begin to change your drawing to more realistic renderings of the same objects. That's the next sketchbook. Have fun.

In my profession drawing and visualizing objects in 3D is a requirement and I love to. I really don't know if I born with special talent for a "second sight", as you called, or if I learn it.
To see the geometrical form of and object put especial attention in the shadow. The essence of Architecture is the form and light. In drawing and painting the concept is the same. Good definition and contrast between shadows and colors is very important to recognize the composition and idea of a drawing or paint. When you are drawing and object start with simple lines and draw the shadows before making the details. One of the reasons to love the impressionist paints is the contrast of colors and the liberation on the details.

This "second sight" you refer to differs from person to person and cannot be taught. Sure just about anyone can learn the technical aspects of drawing/painting and some do become good at it but I feel it is a combination of both vision and aptitude. I feel I have the vision but have difficulty transferring it to paper - it's never quite the same as what I've envisioned. Perhaps over time with some practise and by exploring various techniques I may become good. As may you.
One technique I remember using in school was to use clear sheets of projector paper. Place it over the picture/ocject you wish to draw and with a sharpie, mark out the shapes you see within it.

i mostly love to scech. i don't possess what you are talking about, but if you give time to identify the shapes in objects YOU might. be creative. u don't have to stick just to shapes. i make scetches of clothing in which i use my own ideas and many geometric shapes in a patern.

I draw with sharpies. That's the best way.
I'm not one that can pick out the shapes, I don't use them.
All I can say is practice and practice more. You will get better each time. Every time I draw it's better than the first.
