Unless you are having a physical by your gyn, you should be allowed to keep your panties or thong on. As for which you should wear, wear whatever you are most comfortable in. Your doctor will probably do a urine test (have you pee in a cup), press on your stomach area to check for abnormalities, check your reflexes, the length of your arms, your spine, your neck, your eyes, ears, throat, and nose. You will be asked to disrobe and put on a paper gown, but you can keep your panties on. Also, the doctor might want to check your breasts, so you may have to take your bra off. The very best thing for you to do is to tell your doctor (or the nurse) when they ask you to disrobe, that you aren't very comfortable and would like to be allowed to keep your bra on. If you wear a cami, they may even allow you to keep it on. Good luck!

I think young girls should wear underwear and not thongs, no matter where they are. I don't think you have to undress for a physical. You will be given a paper gown for a gyno exam, but not sure if a 16 year old would have to have one of those yet.

you should not have to remove your underwear for an exam unless it is for a gyno exam. I do not ever remember having to remove my underwear (no thongs, I hate them) for any physical i have ever had for both high school sports or for post college work physicals.

i prefer normal old bikini underwear.

it usually does not matter because they make you undress before the DR even gets in the room, you put on the gown and wait. The DR never sees my undies if it is for a pap or gynie visit....
