1.) If a head of lettuce costs the grocery store $0.45 and the store wants a profit of 20% above their cost, how much will the lettuce cost the consumer?

A. $0.50
B. $0.21
C. $0.43
D. $0.54


2.) If a swimming pool has a capacity of 150 people and the pool is at 120% capacity now, how many people are in the pool?

A. 200
B. 168
C. 123
D. 180

**.45 x .2 (20%) = .09
.45 + .09 = $.54

**150 x 1.2 = 180

1) D

10% of $0.45 is 0.045 (move the decimal to the left one space). Double that values gives 9 cents- the amount the store must increase the price of the lettuce by. $0.45+.09 = $0.54

2)D

10% of 150 people is 15 people. So 20% would be 30. The answer is therefore 150+30 = 180.

1) $0.45 + 20%
= $0.45 * 120/100
= $0.54

2) 150 * 120%
= 150 * 120/100
= 180

you're just having people do your homework for you .... it might be easier if you payed attention in class or brought your math book home...

use a proportion and cross multiply

x/0.45=120/100v <--- PROPORTION
