We have a problem in our condo. Some people are changing their door handles to whatever style they like. I go down my hallway and I see different door handles on each apt entrance. I told the Superintendent about it and he says he is uncertain about what to do. I know that the carpets , wallpaper, doors and doorhandles are considered "common elements". What should I do next to stop this unusual thing from happening in my building? It is cheaping my building with this look. It looks like a different person lives in eachof the units and doesn't care about the next person. We are a community of people sharing the same hallways.
Any knowledgeable advice would be appreciated.

Most HOA's have the ability to restrict the owners from making changes that affect the appearance of the exterior (i.e. doorhandles, painting the door, window treatments can be restricted, flooring, wallpaper, etc cannot). Who does the superintendant work for? Presumably a management company? Write the management company a letter and ask them to bring this to the board of director's attention (or better yet, go to the board meeting and bring it up yourself). The board of directors has the right to fine owners who violate the CC&Rs of the development.

If you have a condo association, check your by-laws.
If there's nothing in the by-laws stipulating door appearance, then all you can do is continue crying.

If there is something regarding door appearance, then take your complaint to the condo board.

Sorry but to me this doesn't seem like a big deal. I mean so what if they have different handles it shows everyone's different style, maybe yours will stand out more. Not look so cookie cutter'ish

Check with the "tenant committee", and see what they advise.
