Yes, it is true that the pill can be used for people with heavy periods. If you are interested in trying the pill for this reason, speak with your gynecologist as they will be able to answer your questions better. Try going to www.plannedparenthood.org to find a clinic near you so you can get more information. They also have a little bit of information about different types of birth control and its uses. Even if you are religious, as long as you are not married and not sexually active then I see no reason not to take the pill.

There are various pills that are used to control periods and skin problems - a lot of teenagers are on them - these particular ones are not effective for birth control.

Most regular birth control pills will help with heavy periods and hormones. I stayed on the pill for two years after my husband had a vasectomy just because of the these benefits.

My daughter started Yasmin a few months ago and is sooo much better - she even has less mood swings and headaches.

Hope this helps.

It is also used to regulate a woman's cycle, make her cycle more predictable. With time, and depending on which pill it is, periods will have a shorter duration and have lighter flow. Some are lucky enough to sail right through, others feel better than not taking it at all. It's a hit or miss with that. But be sure to discuss the disaffects of taking this type of medication and decide if the benefits out weigh the drawbacks.

It is. I use it to control my periods and help with the pain that comes from endometriosis and cysts, which I have problems with. I have also heard of some people going on it just to help acne. So there are many reasons a person could be on the pill.

Yes it is true. I had very difficult periods every month, horrible cramping and vomitting, and once my doc put me on BC all of my problems were solved. You might have to experiment with several different types to find the right hormone balance for your body. Some pills can make you bleed for a longer time or make your breasts very tender. Just keeping trying new ones until you find one that works for you. Good luck!
