When I go to turn my computer on I keep getting a message saying that the file \windows\system32\config\SYSTEM is missing or corupt after the ACER logo apphears. My dad booted the system with a CD and noticed the file was changed by a virus but he can't get the virus and doesn't know what to do, can anyone help?

Boot from your original cd, at the first screen ask for install. At the second screen (both ask this), you will see the drive and os details, press R for repair. This will go through a full repair, replacing all files with originals. When finished the machine will start normally. IMMEDIATELY download and update anti-spyware and anti-virus. I would go for AVG free for both of these. Scan the machine. Keep them up-to-date.

Try to run a virus scan and see if you can remove the virus if not contact your computer manufacturer or find a local technician to do it for you :)
