In what ways does this half-life limit what can be dated by the radio carbon method?

Its approximately 5.700 years. It limits the dating process to dating things that are younger than that.

Mata Hari has the right 1/2 life, but missed the times that can be dated by Carbon 14 dating. It is about 60,000 (I can't remember the exact date). Anything that was living at one time can be dated using this technique. Anyone who says otherwise is a bias (usually toward the Old Testament), or has no knowledge about science, or both.

Nobody REALLY knows..... Yet it is the standard but flawed best method we have to "guesstimate" the age of something.
It is interesting how different labs come up with different numbers.
