They do not need extra water, and they MUST eat in water.

Besides good quality pellets, young Red-ears eat meat. Try the 'meaty' foods people feed their fish. Live, frozen/thawed, or well-preserved worms, bugs, snails, shrimp, krill, etc. will be fine.

Red ears will eat anything. Try it, think of something you would find in a pond and put it in with the turts. They will eat it.

By the way the lettuce suggestion is not a good one. Ice burg lettuce is useless as a food for anything or anyone.

Well if you are not grossed out by these things then try them:

1. Dead frozed mice. Also reffered to as "pinkies". You can by little ones that are two days old or bigger ones. I feed my turtle the small kind and she loves them!
2, Also you can feed the turtle live crickets. However my turtle is afraid of them and refuses to eat them. good luck!

I get my turtle feeder fish at the pet store. They are about 12 cents each and I usually get about a dozen. He also eats snap peas (just the peas) and lettuce cut into very small pieces.

They'll eat greens like romaine lettuce, mustard, etc (no spinach or iceberg lettuce because they have no nutrional value). They don't need other water, they don't really drink it. Mine eats her greens from a dish on a smal spot on her basking area but you don't really need one. They'll eat their greens right off the basking area or rocks. They also eat crickets, meal worms, and grasshoppers.
