There can be loads of reasons..
Rapid changes in weight, usually weight loss, causes girls to miss their periods. Not eating enough can. And, yes, stress can too. Excessive excercise can also. You have mentioned these in your case.
How old are you? Extremes of ages, that is, when periods have just started or are about to end, make periods irregular.
Then there are disease. They can come after pregnancy (Sheehan's Syndrome) or after some manual manipulation with the uterus (for medical or other reasons) (Asherman's Syndrome).
Infections of uterus can also do this. Or a defect with the ovaries.
Sometimes, disorders of some other system may have effect on periods. Examples are thyroid disorder, etc.
But you appear to be having the common and simplest cause, which can be easily cured: too much excercise, too rapid weight loss, too little to eat. Try overcoming this and if it doesn't help, see a doctor (gynaecologist). Or go straight to one.

It sounds like your going to extremes with the diet and exercise, which can cause your period will stop. The doctor will do a series of blood tests etc, probably send you to a nutritionist and a shrink, and give you a very stern talking to. It's pretty serious. You're well on your way to an eating disorder! Haven't you seen the pictures of the emanciated models and hollywood stars who don't eat! They are not attractive at all! You seriously don't want to look like that... the long term damage they are doing to their body is horrifying! Eat a healthy diet and exercise (within reason) and listen to your mother! (you might think she is full of it at the moment, but when your older, you will realise she is very wise)

There are lots of reasons you miss a period. Excessive weight loss and lots of exercise are both reasons. Stress can affect your period too. Your mom is just looking out for you by taking you in. She just wants to make sure you are alright.
The doctor will probably ask you about your life style,do a pelvic exam, and maybe some blood work. There is really nothing to worry about.

You may have stopped getting a period because of your severe weight loss. It happens to female athletes all the time. The doctor will examine you to see if there are any physical problems that would explain your missing periods. They might also do a blood draw to check out your hormone levels.
The other kind of help you should look into is an acupuncturist. If your spleen channel is unbalanced, your periods can be missing, too long in between, too light, too heavy, too short in between. The acupuncturist can balance the spleen channel that runs down your inner thighs with the proper insertion of acupunture needles. (They are so tiny, the insertion does not hurt.)

When you lose weight, you can miss periods. Did you lose weight that needed to be lost? If not, and you are under a certain normal body fat percentage, you will not get a regular period. Why? Because you body thinks it's starving and is trying to conserve by not having a period. I suggest you look at your diet to make sure you are eating healthy.

Depends on how old you are and if you are sexually active.
Young kids they just look usually no probing.
sexually active kids get the speculum. If it is a good doctor they will take their time and it should not hurt at all. Say something if it does so he / she can make adjustments or use a smaller speculum.
It is more embarrassing than painful.

Yeah that definitely could be why. Drastic dieting and rapid weight loss will cause your periods to stop.
