the universe started as a finite potential that produced a single space-time pulse that evolved into the universe we experience to-day.
A potential was required or nothing could have happened.
The potential had to be finite or it would have had no way of initiating the potential.

For the answer to a question about the origin of everything and before that you have chosen to ask ordinary citizens of the world??? Granted, some in Yahoo are well educated.
But it is very certain that none of us ever lived back then and have no way of knowing what came before the Big Bang. Theories are a dime a dozen, and fairy tales are even less expensive. Your subject of inquiry is foolish.

Don't believe that Flying Spaghetti Monster stuff! Clearly, the universe was made by the Invisible Pink Unicorn (blessed be Her holy hooves).

But seriously ... there is no evidence for anything before the Big Bang. There might have been something, but all the information was destroyed in the BB. So there is no way of knowing from science, only from faith. And faith can tell you anything you want.

It didn't start as a small dense ball, that came later.

And don't try to counter with God, because the Flying Spaghetti Monster has equal credibility to God.

This reminds me of an Isaac Asimov short story..."The Last Question" it was, provides an intresting theory in a funny way.

Unless you can somehow go back to the beginning of time to actually witness the creation of the Universe, any answers are going to be merely speculation.
