Plain soapy water should be fine. I find those ant bait traps work fine just find where they are coming out at. Chances are they are not coming from the sink check your base boards. I hope this helps you.

There are two main type of ants. Sweat eating ants and grease eating ants. If I remember correctly. grease eating ants are small red ones and the sweat eating are the larger black ones. They are not in the sink. There is some other originating point. They may be coming from topside and smelling sweats /grease in the drain and crawling in there to eat. I would consider a professional bug killer for a one time treatment in cabinets, under the sink, around the outside of the house. Maybe cost you $150. and he may tell you the origin and what t do to keep it from happening again.

It's not just a matter of killing the ants, you have to find where they have originated and get them there. You may need an exterminator.
