What should I do. I just came out of the Asst. Mgr.'s office since she asked me to come in. I'm really cool w/ her and we chat all the time, so no big deal, I thought. WRONG! She called me in to tell me that they were letting me go due to low-income (it's a starting company and aren't picking up too fast) and they needed someone to speak their language in the office (oriental) due to the majority of clients that come in. And I wasn't meeting that requirement. So why did they choose me in the beginning if I didn't, Right? *crying*

Marge Gunderson: Don't know. See: They had said they wanted to hire Hispanic-Speaking Agents (which I speak) and now all of a sudden, he changes his mind and says: Nevermind, I need someone that speaks our language. (Korean)...Oh, well, that's fine, I'll be on my way then..HELL NO!!!!!!

Did they really say that? It's possible you could get them for discrimination if they didn't specify any language requirements in the first place.

If they were smart, they would have fired you using a different excuse than that. That's basically a no no.

You should talk to her about that and see what their reaction is.

My condolences on your situation first off, second off they had the money to hire when the funds were available. This is business not personal so don't take it that way. The also hired you because I am sure that you are a grea person with a lot of well needed skills. The third thing is they always hire and get rid of to earn back what they can in taxes. Hope this helps in some way. This is business not personal so don't take it that way.

That is just not good at all. The funny thing is I had a somewhat similiar experience in that I was never compensated by the police department for speaking Spanish and German, but they always called me to translate.
Now that I'm gone, they have decided that this should probably be compensated since nobody bothers to learn Spanish... Yeah, good idea, thanks guys!
Hang in there, something better will come for you. These people sound like losers.

That's a crappy situation! I'm sorry that you have to deal with that. They should have choose that in the beginning instead of springing it on you now! I hope you find a job really soon! *hands you a tissue* Maybe tomorrow will be better!
