Depends. If they are considered a nuisance, then yes, it would be OK to eliminate some of them. Look at the cormorant problem. Then tell me it's not justifiable to kill animals for population control.

Norwegians DONT kill baby seals as a sport! Where have you gotten this information from?

There is a "quota" of 2100 seals that are permitted to keep the numbers not growing to high. I believe the numbers in Canada is 300.000.

If they're actually killing the seals HUMANELY because an exploding population is causing environmental damages and they're actually using all the body parts, I really don't think there's a problem. But I suspect that's not the case. If it's just for sport, or for $=fur, like the Canadian (I think) seal hunt, it's sick.

As for the "interfering w/ culture remark," some cultures see no problem with abusing women. Let's not interfere, then, as that's their "way of life." Notice the sarcasm.

mankind is the cruelest animal on earth.

we kill things that are better then us in the name of sport.

at a local park i seen these young boys catch a innocent turtle and just dash it on the rocks for the fun of it...what kind of sick mind kills God's creatures for the fun of it.

how ill i get when i hear of the abuse of animals. the japanese kill dolphins for food and also hunt whales for the same purpose.

I do not think we have progressed much from the stone age when i see our civilization resort to war and senseless killing of people and innocent animals.

We all could live without killing animals. It is just that we are raised to be meat eaters and think we can not live without our pork, beef, or other animals that we slaughter.
Maybe in the end man won't be happy until we are all extinct from this sad world.

I don't see the world getting any better as we are even cruel to our own children. Child abuse and worse. The animals have rights too just like our young children have a right to a proper life when growing up.

I totally agree with you - they shouldn't kill innocent lives for sport. Deer is okay since there are a lot of deer out there, but seals? I think they crossed the line here far long time ago.

It is their culture, who are we to interfere?

I for one would never do it, I love seals. But I do not interfere with other cultures.

Why not. We fish as sport, hunt deer as sport. In Norway they got seals... whatever... quit judging other people. I wonder how seals taste? I would love a coat made out of that white baby seal fur.

It's unbelievable what some other countries do to seals, whales and dolphins. Especially the crazy Chinese. It's inhumane.
