how do i lock the display applet? the ppl im locking it from are not that technologically advanced

Go to
Desktop Properties>Screensaver. Here,insert time and check "On resume, password protect" box.

It's no that simple.

Even if you lock the Display Applet in Control Panel, some software can bypass that and write a new filename to the registry directly. Such software include web browsers and Irfanview.

go to your desk top and point the arrow to a blank space on your desk top,
Right click and it would say Arrange Icons by,
Then you select Lock Web Items On Desk Top.
When you click on that it will put a check mark to indicating that it's LOCK.
