To help neo-cons understand (they are a little slow), Bush had an option of protecting various induftries with a tariff, such as the auto industry. Instead, he chose to back private equity firms with a tarrif on coated paper.
What an absolute piece of garbage this president turned out to be.

Are you referring to the paper tariff?
I think it should be all goods not just paper.
Dont you think the fact that China charges the USA either tarffis on goods that we dont tariff them or higher tariffs than we charge them.
Hasnt that been unfair to the USA and in favor of industry in China?

He can't win. If he puts in a tariff, he is helping private equity firms. If he doesn't he is not protecting American jobs.
