When you win the presidency by the narrowest of margins you are immediately at a disadvantage - already about half of the voting public don't want you. George Bush has done very well, he's a terrible public speaker and thus struggles to make himself understood and makes laughable mistakes. However he does not let this deter him. He is a good leader because he is capable of making decent decisions and standing by them. It does not matter to him that this makes him unpopular. Leadership should never be a popularity contest - any good manager should be able to tell you that - sometimes difficult decisions need to be made. He is placing the needs of his country (not wants, NEEDS) above his own popularity and is willing to take the flak for it. This makes him a good, strong man and respectable leader. Disgruntled Americans would do well to realise this.

Bush is probably a good leader but like most of the leaders in the world he is not suited to running a country....it is the ultimate job and so few are really up to it....you know you have a good leader when they win by a massive majority...i reckon here in Britain the next election will be a close thing between labour and the cons

Can't say weather he is a good man or not, but as
a leader he is excellent in leading our nation into
wars on foreign soil. The only problem is he puts
our troops in harms way, then apoligizes to the
family when our troops die. Being ex-military, I
know that Bush is a bully to other countries and he
uses the excuse to promote democracy but one
day he will realize that he is not a world ruler.

His few defenders here have said he makes tough, unpopular decisions and addresses America's needs, not wants. This is hogwash. Hard to recall, but his most disastrous decision - to start a war in Iraq - was popular at the time. Unlike other presidents who've shown real leadership by making *unpopular* decisions which years later proved to be right, he went for a cheap and easy feelgood 'victory' in Iraq instead of focusing on the threat of Islamic terrorism. Saddam was a bad man, but had no relation to fundamentalist Islam which attacked America.
And as for giving America what it wants, not needs, this chimp has slashed taxes for the rich while increasing spending on a previously unknown scale. People attack 'tax and spend liberals' - what about tax-cut and spend so-called conservatives. He could have made a tougher decision by saying 'we have a costly war to win and need tax revenue to pay for it', but instead has decided our children and grandchildren will pay for it.
He might be a good man, though his lack of respect for human rights and cavalier attitude towards human life makes me wonder - but on no account is he a good leader.

George Bush has nothing to do with the word "leader". i dunno if he is a good man or not but i know he is an idiot. Nowadays there are very few real leaders. Almost every president is controled by a large group of people who are behind him and control him and us.

He is neither as far as the presidency goes. He is a fake and a phony. Buying a ranch here in Texas and trying to pass himself off as a rancher, cutting wood, fixing fences etc...He used his Daddy's connections and money to make a name for himself.
He is a lousy public speaker and is not respected in the world. Ronald Reagan was the last great Republican President. He knew how to communicate and kick ***.
Bush may be a good man and leader to his family but a joke as a president.

No, and he's pretty much answered that "why" question for everyone.
You know, it just occurred to me while reading these answers.. it's hard to take some of the comments seriously when you are looking at avatars of what looks like 12-15 year olds. Yeah.. I know.. I look like a milkshake.. but really.. can't they put some "grown-up" looking avatars on here for people to choose from.. or is this intended to look like a kiddie site? Oh well.. yeah, bush sux. Thanks.

On the information I have to go on he appears to have no integrity or personality. I have no time for him. I would much prefer to see Al Gore as president, the same as the majority of Americans. I can have no respect for the man because he has no respect for democracy or human life.
So no to good man and no to good leader.
