You, my friend, are a libertarian. That means you believe in keeping government out of the economic system as well as keeping government out of people's social lives. It is a respectable political philosophy, except when times get really tough, like in the depression in the 1930's, and then all you can do is shrug your shoulders and tell people they have to tough it out for themselves since business is not going to help them and neither is the government.

You are a liberal--definitely on social issues. Depending on which part of the world you are in, economic issues are labeled differently.

"Economic Liberalism" or neo-liberalism is just as you describe:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoliberalism

Although in America, "liberals" general oppose laissez-faire economics, privatization and favor Government intervention in the private sector.

Today's "conservatives" have given us the largest entitlement in U.S. history (Prescription drugs) and Bill Clinton (if you call him "liberal") greatly reduced Government spending.

Democrats (the U.S. "liberal" party) have adopted a largely laissez-faire (neo-liberal) economic policy.

Libertarians really wind up being an umbrella group in the US, meaning any liberal disenchanted with the Democrats see themselves as Libertarian; likewise disaffected Republicans. It is hard to tell how the Libertarians would be different than the 2 parties however, as they have never been even a small minority, much less controlled a branch of Government.

Hope this helps.

By the sounds of it you are a left wing conservative - it is not at all that bad as you will find that is what most people are. It is only the vocal minorities that seem to emphasis and stress the far extremes of being a conservative or a liberal.

Being human we all have different points of view on varying topics and concepts.

Your list sounds liberal, but I think most people go deeper than that. Here's a quiz that assesses very specific leanings. If nothing else, it's fun.

Libertarian

You like the previous poster, know what you believe and are not afraid to publicly state it. You did this without denigrating the other sides, commendable.

BTW Are you for Rudy, just curious

Your question reminds me of that scene in Blazing Saddles where all the criminals are lined up to give their qualification to Hedly Lamar. One guy says, "Rape, cattle rustling, murder, and rape." And, Hedly Lamar says, "You said rape twice." And the guy says, "I like rape."
