I do not get it ,to be independent should we have to live alone, is that what independence means, I think that independence in thinking, decisions, my future plans is the real freedom.

Well a lot of americans frown upon this not only because we feel that it is necessary for our adultesences to find independence and responsibility...but also it is a sign of failure, i guess you would call it a kind of "right of passage thing" for both girls and guys. As the years continue though and it is not only becomeing more difficult to move out but extremely expensive it seems that more and more american children are choosing to stay home "With prolonged education and high costs of establishing a household, U.S. children are leaving home later." "Many stay home during college, and others move back after college."-James M. Henslin(sociology: A Down-To-Earth Approach 8th edition) They are called Boomerang Children.Oh ya another BIG reason is that the parents usually want us to leave! They love us but they have usually been waiting up to 23 years to just drop everything, no kids, and travel...just have their own fun that doesnt involve babysitting. Hope this helps...at least a little, with understanding our quirky ways!

because when we turn 18 we are considered adults and most go to college after they finish high school and move out and then get jobs that will allow them to be able to afford to live away from mommy and daddy. but I think that alot of people this age do still live at home and some even stay after they are married too.
But it is weird because, that is how our culture is, to grow up and move out. been that way for a long long time now. But why would you want to live with your parents once you were married? live close is ok but in the same house with your new family? that would be cramped if your house wasnt very big.
Why is it ok for you to live with your parents after marriage? why dont you want to get your own house?

Yes, that would be considered odd here. American cultural norm is for a man to move out of his parents house no later than age 21. Many times the age is between 18-21. Not before age 18.

Yeah. I know what you mean, but here it's considered strange because you're considered grown up and a parental figure isn't needed in your life anymore to advise you. It's kind of hard to explain. You have to come and live here for a while and you'll see. I guess it's mainly because America is about freedom and making your own choices and living with your parents doesn't fit into that very well.

I suspect it's not as common in the US because it's easier to support yourself and a family here than in India (probably not as true recently). The Indian culture has always dictated that sons take care of their parents (Chinese culture is very similar that way), even after marriage.
Here, parents usually have retirement plans, and are more than willing to have their children "leave the nest" and support themselves.
It's only weird if that's not the way you're raised. If you and your parents, and whomever you marry, decide to preserve that aspect of your culture, then that's your business.

not wierd to me. I lived with my parent till I was 24. I saved money to put a down payment on a house. Sure people thought it was strange, but I am laughing at them now while they are living in their apartments and paying the same amount in rent that I pay in mortgage. : )
After marriage would be strange. Where would you have sex. That would just be too uncomfortable.

I don't see anything wrong with it. But I think most can not wait until they turn 18 and get out of the house and 'start living freely' without the parents around.

rather you need to be going out and experiencing the international, this is spoke of as independence, you won't be able to easily pass from being regarded after by ability of your mom and dad to being regarded after by ability of your lady pal, you desire a splash bit time in between the place you discover ways to pay your individual expenditures, prepare dinner your individual foodstuff and clean your individual place of living, why do no longer you talk approximately renting a place? Do you pass out eating with buddies and are available homestead at 2 in the morning on your mom and dad homestead? i'm beneficial after just about 23 years of elevating you they might like a splash bit time by ability of them selves to re-kindle the previous fireplace that become spoke of as romance until eventually now you have been born. In some cultures sons under no circumstances depart the homestead and bring their different halves to stay with them in the family contributors homestead yet except your Indian or Arabic this is no longer generic. pass traveling yet once you do not have the money merely get some independence, it does you multiple good and can provide you super skills for later life, your mom and dad will desire you out of the homestead as quickly as they're finished looking after you so they might have some on my own time until eventually now they get previous and want you looking after them.

For one reason, most kids in the USA want to get out as soon as possible, and be on their own, and to some people, if you live at home, they think that it means that you can't take care of yourself.

You heard wrong.
Lots of guys in America live with their parents until they're ready to move out.
Believe it or not some are as "old" as 23.
