Why do I feel as if Al Sharpton is running this place? Comments are put on about Gays and Lesbians ALL THE TIME talking about how we are going to hell and belittling us. They post how Jesus said it was a sin (which Jesus never said that himself in the Bible), but let a gay person put something in rebuttal to a black person about slavery in the bible be justified and that person gets deleted. It's okay to gay bash with the Bible but not say what Jesus actually said in the bible? WHY?

I come on here because I do want others opinions. It was my opinion they didn't like and I guess the yahoo people didn't either because I was deleted. They persons that said I was a freak and a child molester wasn't deleted.

You are turning this character you speak of into a cult figure by mentioning him.

Is that what you want?

Al Sharpton has nothing to do with it.

Many of us couldn't give a hooty tooty flying fornication what the Bible says, as it doesn't apply to current life and perhaps never did.

Also we've seen how Christians have distorted and adjusted the bible to their own way of thinking which devalues the merit of the scripture (e.g. Mormons)

Many of us are offended by any religion that justifies gratuitous killing and genocide as something good

The bible was written by men. Since it has been so long there is no way to know about what they were writing about, because 1. It wasn't written in English 2. It's been too long to know how to adjust what was written for today's culture. because the culture was very different back then (e.g. sodomy didn't mean butt-intercourse, or fellatio, it meant bad manners)

Your question is about Yahoo's Questions and Answers ... but I felt I must 'answer' your question, because I don't 'bash gays' nor do I even THINK that Jesus did so ... the ONLY references to 'gays' is in the OLD TESTAMENT and are not about ALL 'gays' but just about men selling themselves in prostitution to other men. I'm a white married straight female, 56 years old ... and I was a psychologist for my career, dealing with 'the problems gays have BECAUSE they are gay' ... not trying to get them to 'stop being' gay, but to help them DEAL WITH THE PROBLEMS THEY HAVE WITH OTHER PEOPLE. So ... I'm very sorry if you feel 'bashed and put down' in this forum ... I 'say what I can' in FAVOR of gays and lesbians here (they are 10% of the population, another 10% are 'strictly heterosexual, and 80% are 'bisexual' even though MOST OF THEM WOULD NEVER ADMIT TO HAVING ANY 'FEELINGS' FOR PEOPLE OF THE SAME GENDER AS THEMSELVES. I will say this until the day I die, or the day that God tells us ALL that 'gays are bad' (and I KNOW HE WON'T EVER DO THAT!) or ... you get the picture. Try just coming here and asking 'good questions' that 'point out how SILLY most people are' when they say 'gay = bad, sinful' ... and I'll 'stand behind you 100% ... and so will my husband ... who is also 'straight' but is 'well informed'...

First of all, if you don't want to hear something that is not your own opinion, then this is not a place to ask a question. Because people like me are going to answer your question. And it was God that said that being gay was wrong. In the bible before God sent the angels to Lot in Sodom, so his family would be saved. God said it not Jesus, I personally don't care if your gay or black or orange, if you put questions out here there will be unwanted comments.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, people are bigots and idiots. Far too many people these days are depending on others to doe their research for them and to answer for other people's mistakes. And for the record, even the Jews AND the Christians up until a few centuries ago BOTH had slaves, even those of their own religion. Although the Christians called it "indentured servitude" and kept people well beyond the time of their "servitude" for their own greedy and malicious reasons.

al sharpton isn't against gays- but yes people on here assume that everyones believes in their god, then they think we all believe in the bible, and that anyone outside of the religious section wants to hear about their diety

because people's ideals don't make sense.
love can't be wrong, just remember that. most people don't agree, but the vast majority is usually wrong about everything - so don't mind that. just ignore what people write that don't pertain to your question i guess. it doesn't make things right, but i guess that's all there is to do on here. or flag them and write a long thing on how offensive it is.

Because being gay isn't still socially acceptable. It's getting there, but you can't push it. I think it's like a situation where it's unacceptable for someone to say I'm proud to be white as opposed to I'm proud to be Black.
