Any help on Setting up a cheap 40 gallon set up able to support lots of goldfish and plants? This is going to be my 5th tank. I wnt a price under 300 doollars. I want cheap Co2 and canister filters

Well, no matter what you do a 40 isn't going to support over 2-3 goldfish at adult size and that's with a good filter. Try yard sales and the paper to get a steal on the tank and you can afford a bit more on the filtration.

A DIY CO2 system is very cheap. Here's an article about CO2 in tanks and a DIY CO2 reactor that the writer says costs less than $35 US to build.

With any luck you might find a used canister filter being sold with a tank somewhere. It's possible sometimes to buy a set up like that cheaper than a new canister filter, worth watching for.
