Because all they think about now is getting the money by hitting home runs! The best base stealer I had ever seen was Joe Morgan. He never lead the league in stolen bases as he only stole them when the team needed it! He also knew how to hit and run, bunt, and play team ball! I have never seen a player like him since!

Players do still steal home, but just not as often. It's a very high-risk play.
