I guess I like purple because it's not as bright as red and it's not as laid back as blue. It's just kind of inbetween.

Purple = blue + red. Speaking from a colour therapy/chakra standpoint, blue is the colour of communication and red is the colour of passion, drive and sex. In the bedroom it could help create an atmosphere condusive to harmony between husband and wife, as it encourages both parties to be what the other needs.

Purple evokes an aura of royalty. It is a rare color, unliket the common red, blue and yellow. Partly, its popularity stem from its roots, it both comes from a cool blue and a warm red. It is a hybrid of passion and apathy. Although most commonly used for death and funerals, purple evoke a mystery or mysticism that caters to the intellect and our unconscious love for the mysterious.

This might sound silly, but I have a theory that people tend to like colours that would suit them and purple does tend to look good with most complexions. Maybe I am out to lunch here, but that's my guess!
