The ACLU fights against government attempts to violate the Constitution. CBS and NBC have no constitutional obligation to continue to give Imus a forum--they are the bosses, they can hire and fire as they see fit.
The ACLU is not involved because there's nothing for them to be involved in.

Listen F1, stop listening to what Fox News tells you. It makes you come across as an idiot. Imus lost his job because the sponsors threatened to pull ads if he wasn't terminated. That's it. It was purely a financial move by CBS.
Now if Imus was being prosecuted by law for saying this, then I could understand the ACLU getting involved. For now, CBS made a business decision to fire Imus.
So, what's your thoughts on Ann Coulter us the "F" word? Should she no longer be allowed on Fox News and all the right wing media outlets that support her? I didn't hear them complaining about her.

The ACLU does whatever they feel like. I wouldn't try and read too much into them - they're basically libertarian. And libertarians are crazy.
That said, I don't know what's wrong with all these white people who get some money together and a bit of fame and suddenly they just start breaking the rules. Whether it's Don Imus or f---ing Kramer. That I can't explain.

I think you have to ASK the ACLU- to represent your case. And Imus has ALWAYS been pretty good about speaking for himself.

i really agree at the same time with your important factor completely. base line, freedon of speech does no longer mean freedom to host a radio coach. You lose severe factors notwithstanding, with the stupid Republican jibe. contained in the first position, Imus is a dyed-in-the-wool liberal - inspite of what political celebration he registers with (I truly do not understand if it really is even real, yet we can presume it really is for the sake of this communicate). The Imus incident is already redundant - the project now should be the marketing campaign on the element of Sharpton and Jackson to close down speech that THEY make certain is irrelevant. How laughable! both best race-baiters and poverty pimps contained in the rustic at the instantaneous are putting themselves up because the arbiters of offensive viewpoints. If Al and Jesse want to be taken heavily, possibly they ought to ask for forgiveness to the innocuous victims of the rape costs at Duke college for his or her inflamatory and punctiliously inaccurate and irrelevant comments...those youthful adult adult males are victims of a real denial of their civil rights in accordance with pretend accusations by technique of an extremely 'nappy headed ho'. possibly the Reverends will leap to protest the civil rights abuses perpetrated on those inncent adult adult males. and doubtless monkeys will fly out of my butt.

why do conservatives talk about how they know the "economy"... when apparenlty a good percentage don't know the differnce between government and the marketplace... and how civil rights are affected in each?
your question is like asking why the Yankees didn't win the super bowl.... of course, because they play baseball... it's totally out of context and shows a basic lack of understanding of what the ACLU does... and what civil rights are...

I am a liberal, and ACLU is not beloved to me. NAMBLA is sick, and the only one's befriending terrorists and terrorist nations is the Bush family.
So, your question is meaningless.
Why aren't YOU defending Imus, since you love racism so much?

The free speech of Don's EMPLOYER trumps his right to say whatever he wants in the workplace. A government did not silence Imus, the marketplace did. Big difference.
